Street Lights

A Tribute to the Vanishing Architectural Heritage of Belgrade

Street Lights is inspired by the first electrically powered Belgrade street lamp from 1893, reimagined as a contemporary sculptural installation.
The work reflects on the disappearance of old Belgrade’s architectural identity, evoking a sense of nostalgia while asserting a bold presence in the present.
The scultpure consists of a series of reconstructed historic lamp posts, each transformed through vibrant, modern color interventions that breathe new life into their original forms. At its center stands a cluster of 27 illuminated spheres, arranged into a dotted heart,a symbolic gesture toward memory, urban emotion, and the collective imprint of the city.
Placed within a contemporary neighborhood, Street Lights becomes an ode to Belgrade’s fleeting architectural past and a testament to its enduring cultural legacy.
